Kayaking the Sea Caves of the Apostle Islands

The 12:30 half-day sea caves trip, a popular choice, lasts approximately three hours. The tour begins at Meyers Beach and takes kayakers to the mainland sea caves. Depending on weather conditions, about six caves are typically visited.

The tour is located on the south shore of Lake Superior, at Meyers Beach in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Track and Trail Tours organizes these kayak trips, offering a chance to explore the stunning natural beauty of the area.

Upon arrival, participants are welcomed to Lake Superior. For many, this is their first time experiencing the vast lake. The sea caves are located straight ahead from the starting point.

One of the notable caves is called the Crack or the Crevasse. Formed from a small crack a thousand years ago, it is now large enough to kayak into. The interior is rich with moss and plant life.

Another prominent feature is the Keyhole Arch, the most photographed spot in the National Lakeshore. Paddlers are advised to maintain distance to avoid collisions. The arch can provide a splash, adding a fun element to the trip.
